| MIER College of education organizes guest lecture | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 24: The Centre for Educational Research at MIER College of Education organized a guest lecture on the theme "Current Research Trends in Learning Environments".
The resource person on this occasion was Professor Rekha Koul, from the School of Education, Curtin University, Australia. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College chaired the session. Dr. N.R Sharma, Dean Academics, Dr. H.R Shan Controller of Examination, Dr. Nishta Rana, Head CER, Dr. Moolraj Sharma Deputy Dy HoD PG Department along with the faculty members attended the guest lecture.
Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College, extended a warm welcome to the resource person and introduced her as an expert in the field of Learning Environments and STEM education. He described Prof. Koul as a distinguished researcher and a teacher educator par excellence, who has presented and published both at the national and international level.
Prof. Koul opened her deliberations highlighting the history of research in learning environments and emphasized the role of the teachers in creating an effective learning environment. She said that the teachers need to be reflective in their teaching pedagogies and the learning environments they create in the teaching learning process.
Prof Koul shared that at Curtin University, she and her colleagues have developed numerous learning environment assessment tools which have been standardized and can be used in numerous classroom situations. She also highlighted that Curtin University is emerging as a global university and is breaking geographical barriers with the development of MOOCs.
Prof Kaul highlighted different educational platforms for MOOCs such as EdX, Coursera and Udemy. She provided ample examples and shared her experiences from the field. The guest lecture was followed by a very lively interaction session. Dr. Nishta Rana, Head CER presented a formal Vote of Thanks to the distinguished speaker and the audience. |
