| Narco smuggler held with 180 kg poppy straw | | | Early Times Report
samba, Dec 24: In a major breakthrough, District Police Samba has arrested one narcotic smuggler and recovered 180 kg consignment of contraband (Poppy Straw) in the jurisdiction of Ghagwal police station.
Police spokesman said that acting on information regarding transportation of contraband item towards Punjab, a special Naka was raised at NHW Tapyal by Police team of Ghagwal police station headed by Inspector Rajeev Kumar-SHO Ghagwal in coordination with District Special Branch (DSB) Samba under the supervision of Deepak Digra-Dy.SP Hqrs. Samba.
"During Naka Checking, an oil tanker bearing Registration number PB07AA-5053 coming from Kashmir towards Kathua/Punjab side was intercepted and 180 Kg of poppy straw was recovered during search of the vehicle which was concealed inside one of the oil chambers of the tanker in polythene bags", said spokesman adding that the accused driver identified as Karan Singh of Deoli, Unna, Himachal Pardesh was arrested on the spot and the contraband item was also seized.
In this regard, a case under FIR No. 168/2018 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Ghagwal police station and further investigation is started to unearth the nexus of narcotic smugglers.
The whole operation was carried out under the overall supervision of Dr. Koshal Sharma-SSP Samba. |
