Former Mayor calls on DC Samba
12/24/2018 9:31:12 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 24: Ch. Manmohan Singh Former Mayor Jammu and State President of AIJMS, today met with DC Samba, Sushma Chauhan to talk about some issues regarding displaced families of 1965-1971.
He told her that the refugees/displaced families are having problems in receiving relief fund of the amount of Rs 5.50 lakhs, due to the delays from Revenue deptt staff. He informed the DC that understaff is creating unnecessary problems in every single file which is unethical.
A file should be studied and the problems with it should be informed to the family at the same time but issues are being raised again and again for reasons unknown to families. All this is further delaying the process and making it difficult for the families who have already taken a lot of their time and efforts especially during difficult times at border to complete this process, as they have high hopes for the relief amount.
He also asked Dy. Com. to introduce an alternative way of verification, considering some people have lost their ration cards. Instead they can be asked to provide the documents of the land they were allotted by the Govt in place of lands they lost in war. Ch.Manmohan Singh also said that SS grant families also have some complaints regarding fund amount delay and they should be given the amount soon. The DC heard these issues and called Assistant Commissioner Revenue and ordered their office to direct all the tehsildars to submit all these pending files to DC office before 31st Dec 2018 and give a written statement saying that all the files concerning the relief funds have been submitted to the DC office.
The DC told Ch. Manmohan Singh that according to her data, there are a total of 2308 displaced families in Samba district, of which 1796 families have taken the form for relief fund. Out of these 1796 families, only 1402 families have submitted their file for the fund and of which 1190 have been given an affirmation. She assured Ch. Manmohan Singh and his team that the remaining 212 files will be cleared before 31st Dec.
