Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 24: Terming the recently announced industrial package as a sheer mockery, senior Congress leader and former minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said that the much publicized package on the pattern of north-eastern states is nothing but a flop show.
Addressing a press conference here today, Dr Sharma said that the scheme has validity up to March 2020, but in the process of setting up a new industrial unit, it takes almost a year & half to establish new unit including allotments and NOCs from various departments whereas only 15 months have been left for this scheme to lapse thus making it a complete failure practically.
While addressing the media persons, Dr Sharma dwelt upon wide range of issues including Rafale deal, unemployment, regularization of daily wagers, compensation to farmers and cross border firing victims, stalling of developmental projects started during UPA regime and step motherly treatment with district Kathua.
He said that people of the country have the right to hold the elected government to the highest standards of transparency and accountability. A joint parliamentary committee, a continuous demand by the opposition will establish whether the grave charges made against the government in the Rafale deal are justified or not. He said as per information the established rules were bypassed, the price was increased by 300 % over what was fixed by the earlier government and compromised national security by reducing contract of 136 fighter planes to just 36. He said if BJP government has nothing to fear then they should have no hesitation in allowing JPC enquiry to bring out the truth.
Dr Sharma said that the unemployment is at all time high in the country adding that youth is driving force for tomorrow. India has approximately 600 million i.e. 65% of youth population but 30% of them are unemployed. He said BJP govt. has failed to provide 2 crores jobs annually that they had promised in their election manifesto and now they are telling youths to sell 'pakodas' to hide their failures and promises.
He said during the previous state government's rule, Kathua district has suffered the most due to lack of vision and policies. He said many projects started by him such as up-gradation of Buggan Higher Secondary School and Thamnal Secondary School, up-gradation of Primary Health Centre Buggan, Four-laning of Dyalachak-Challan road and many are waiting for their completion.
