Jammu, Dec 24: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Adv Sumit Nayyar seeking respondents to develop/improve the tourist infrastructural facilities for the Mantalai-SudhMahadev circuit including temples which attract a large number of tourists every year and to take effective measures as expeditiously as possible, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan after hearing Sr. Adv Sunil Sethi with Adv Waheed Choduhary appearing for the PIL whereas AAG FA Natnoo appearing for the state observed that status report dated 20th December, 2018 filed by Secretary to Government, Tourism Department has given details of the various facilities to be developed at Mantalai, Sudhmahadev and Patnitop.
The report sets out details of the sanctioned costs; funds released, funds utilized, the status of the work and the expected date of completion.
DB directed respondents to place monthly status reports before this Court with regard to on-going works. DB further observed that it Had been informed that the work with regard to Sudh Mahadev Develop-ment Project stands completed, while, the work in respect of the project for Mantalai shall be completed in the year 2021. The respondents shall ensure that the status is adhered to. However, so far as Patnitop is concerned, we are informed that the work remained suspended for over one year w.e.f. 25th August, 2017 on account of certain disputes with the Forest Department.
DB issued notice to Commissioner / Secretary, Forest Dept, returnable on 27th December, 2018.
