Govt orders prosecution of two persons for pasting "Sogam Chalo" posters in 2016

Srinagar, Dec 24: The government has accorded sanction for the prosecution of two persons for pasting posters in Sogam in north Kashmir's Kupwara district in a bid to make "Sogam Chalo" march successful in 2016.
According to Home department's order granting sanction for the prosecution, Police station Sogam received an information through reliable sources that Javid Ahmad Mir son Ghulam Mohi-u-Din Mir of Maidanpora Lalpora in connivance with Bashir Ahmad Pir son of Abdul Jabbar Pir of Gangbugh planned to make call of "Sogam Chalo" successful, "in order to carry out the programme of the outfits who are bent upon to secede the State of J&K from Union of India."
In this connection, the order said, these two persons pasted some posters in the locality for wide publicity and some posters were kept in the house of one Bashir Ahmad Pir at Gangbugh and "thus had waged a war against the sovereignty of India and are instigating the youth of the area for committing illegal and unlawful activities etc."
Police had registered a case (FIR No. 88/2016) under section 13 UAPA Act,1967 in Police Station, Sogam and investigation initiated
"During the course of investigation, the Investigating officer visited the spot, apprehended the accused and recovered the incriminating posters from the possession of the accused and prepared seizure memo, draft site plan, lifted the fingerprint of the accused, recorded the statement of witnesses under the relevant provisions of law and the accused were arrested in the instant case," reads the order.
"The Authority appointed by the State Government under sub-section (2) of section 45 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, has independently scrutinized the Case Diary file and all the other relevant documents relating to the case and has come to a definite conclusion that this is a fit case for accord of prosecution sanction against the (duo)," the order said and accorded sanction for prosecution.
