CWS hails commission for protection of women, children

JAMMU, Dec 24: Children's Welfare Society (CWS) has welcomed the decision of the state government for setting up commission for protection of women and children rights.
Addressing a meeting of the executive committee members of the society here today, the president CWS Gurdeep Singh Sasan appreciated the government for taking this bold decision which will prove to be most reformist step for the society especially for women and children. Sasan also lauded the government for taking drastic steps for establishing a composite commission and sufficient number of courts for speedy trials of offences against vulnerable section of the society. Sasan said that with this change in society and with alarming increase in offences in women and children there was dire need for necessary amendments in prevailing laws pertaining to this section of the society. Sasan further appealed to the Government to bring necessary amendment in present PC- PNDT Act. The society unanimously passed resolution and appealed to the government to bring necessary amendment in present PC- PNDT Act and book the perpetrators of this gruesome, in human, barbaric, cruel crime under section 302, 120 B of IPC/RPC beside other relevant sections.
