| Father arrested for trying to bury baby alive | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 1: In a bizarre incident, a resident in South Kashmir was arrested for allegedly trying to bury his baby alive. The incident took place on Monday in Tujgari Mohalla graveyard in Nowhatta near Srinagar. Locals handed the man over to police.
The person was identified as Manzoor Hussain Banyari. He is a resident of Shamsipora Shopian.
"The baby had some congenital deformities and the said person told police that he was very poor and could not treat his newborn baby. The case has been registered in Nowhatta Police Station under section 317 of RPC," said Sajad Ahmad Shah, SP of North City.
The police said that Banyari was released on bail while the baby has been shifted to hospital for treatment. His mother is recovering in the hospital in which she gave birth to the child.
Reports say that the baby is receiving care in GB Pant Hospital. |
