| Engineer turns land grabber, encroaches public Park | | |

Jammu, Jan 1: A retired Chief Engineer has encroached on JDA Park located at Dhodi Gujjar Colony Sunjwan and converted it into his private lawn.
According to sources shaming the notorious land mafia, a retired Chief Engineer has encroached upon JDA park adjoining his house in Sunjwan area and the concerned officials have stayed inert to his unlawful act.
"The issue has been time and again raised before the district administration and the Jammu development Authority (JDA) as well, but authority did not dare to remove encroachment from the park", sources told Early Times and added that the hide and seek between authorities and the Engineer continued for a long time.
They said that it has become a trend of land mafia in outskirt of Jammu to grab JDA land. "There are several instances of encroachments of state/forest/JDA land in Sunjwan but authorities kept silent over the issue", they said and added that the matter of encroachment on Park was brought into Governor's notice through Grievance Cell.
The JDA acting swiftly into the matter summoned the Engineer, the matter is under process. "As reported by enforcement wing of JDA and Revenue Field staff, you have encroached JDA land/Park at Dhodi Gujjar Colony Sunjwan by way of construction of lawn and garden illegally", copy of notice sent of JDA to Engineer under 6 sub section of the J&K Public Premises Eviction of un-authorized Occupant Act 1988, read. |
