| Contempt in PIL regarding establishment of EYE-Bank | | DB grant last opportunity to State | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 1: In a Public Interest Litigation seeking establishment of eye-bank, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan granted last opportunity to the respondents to file compliance report within six weeks.
DB observed that it had directed Commissioner/ Secretary to Planning and Development Department, J&K, Government (at present Srinagar) to release the required funds to Health and Medical Education Department at the earliest, enabling it to complete the project for establishing two Eye Banks, one at Jammu and other at Srinagar within the shortest possible time, but these directions were not complied with, as a result of which present contempt petition was filed, seeking compliance of the aforesaid directions.
Division Bench granted one last opportunity to the respondents to file compliance report and steps be taken to ensure compliance of the above orders within six weeks from today. |
