Team J&K outclass Assam, secures third win of the Ranji season

Jammu, Jan 1: Team Jammu and Kashmir hammered Assam team by four wickets in an ongoing Elite C group Ranji match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Tuesday. It was the third win out of eight matches by Jammu and Kashmir team.
Resuming the day three on 19 for one wicket, visitors Jammu and Kashmir team lost their second day on the score of 21 in the form of Qamran Iqbal. Next to parish was Kanhaiya Wadhawan who went to the hut without troubling the score board.
From 19 to one wicket, hosts were 21 for three in the early morning of the day three session. Owais Amin played some shots and scored 31 runs for his team. At one point visitors were in deep trouble when four top batsmen's were back to the pavilion on the score of 64 runs.
It was the 111 runs partnership between Captain Parvez Rasool and Shubham Khajuria that took the game away from the host, Assam. Shubham and Rasool both scored 67 runs taking team Jammu and Kashmir over the line. Rasool got out on the score of 175 runs and Shubham Khajuria and on 213 runs.
Earlier 20 wickets fell on the first day of the match with hosts Assam bundled by the Jammu and Kashmir team on 128 runs. Rohit Sharma and Umar Nazir picked three wickets each in the first innings. Team Jammu and Kashmir had good chance to capitalize on the hosts batting woes but they failed too leading game wide open.
Team Jammu and Kashmir made few changes in the match with Musaif Aijaz, Kanhaiya Wadhawan (wk), Rakish Salam, Rohit Sharma, A Bandy in, Aakash Choudhary, Ian Dev Singh, Obaid Haroon (wk), Mohammed Mudhasir, Aamir Aziz Sofi out.
Visitors scored 141 and lost the wicket with 16 runs lead it the second innings continuing their batting bad luck. Despite some changes up and down the order, nothing much was added at the score board. Same middle order failure and bowlers doing their best.
15 runs were added by the middle order batsmen's. Hosts somehow grabbed the bat right and scored some timely partnerships giving a ray of hope to register a win with two left of the match. Rishav Das scored 95 runs for the hosts giving tough time to the visitors.
Rishav hit 13 boundaries in 20o balls. Swarupam Purkayastha scored 46, Amit Sinha (c) 33 and Pallavkumar Das 32. Parvez Rasool and Irfan Pathan both took three scalps. Rasikh grabbed 2 wickets and Umar took one wicket.
Looking at the recent forms of Jammu and Kashmir, one would have not thought they will win the match. Captain of the Jammu and Kashmir was adjusted man of the match for his all rounder performance.
