1/1/2019 11:33:39 PM
Early Times Report

AKHNOOR, Jan 1: Former Minister and Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma has stressed the need for strengthening the bonds of social fabric and mutual brotherhood to make the society more harmonious and prosperous.
The former Minister was addressing a large gathering of people at a function organized in connection with the celebrations of New Year at Akhnoor today.
He cautioned the people against the nefarious design of disgruntled and opportunistic forces who are out to disintegrate the society in the name of religion, castes, which is very dangerous for the pluralistic society, he said.
While addressing the gathering, he said that National Conference and PDP as and when in power say something and when out of it they blame the National parties particularly the Congress for their own failures. Sham further said that Ghulam Nabi Azad though ruled the state for 2 years and 8 months, but people of the state still remembers him for his effective governance. He further said that for the last 70 years there has been dominance of Kashmir centric leaders so far as planning and policies of State Government is concerned. Sham advocated for the grant of regional autonomy to all the three regions of the state which will ensure equitable distribution of developmental funds for these regions and also ensure political empowerment of Jammu.
While lambasting BJP, Sham said that though they consider themselves so-called well wishers of Jammu people, but are opposing grant of regional autonomy to it for best reasons known to the BJP. He asked BJP as to why they are against granting of regional autonomy to Jammu when it ensures equal distribution of funds amongst all the three regions and also political empowerment to its people.
Speaking on the occasion, Ex-member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma strongly criticized the BJP for its utter failure to ensure equitable share to Jammu region in every sphere and its surrender on every vital issue and compromise on its agenda, for the sake of power.
Madan Lal lashed out at the BJP for exploiting the sentiments of people of Jammu region on emotional issues like removal of Article 370, removing 'Do Vidhan, Do Nishan', removing discrimination and ensuring equitable share to Jammu region in every sphere but regretted that it surrendered on all vital issues and aspirations of the region for the sake of chair.
