Selection process of Class-IV posts in District Udhampur vitiated: Harsh 1/21/2019 10:06:15 PM Early times Report Udhampur, Jan 21: Expressing scepticism over the fairness of the interviews conducted for selections to Class-IV posts in District Udhampur, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister today called for a more transparent mechanism so as to ensure that the merit was not distorted by unscrupulous elements. He said that the District level Class-IV selection committee of the said District comprised some tainted officers with dubious credentials which had led to uproar even prior to the start of selection process. Not only the officers with questionable antecedents and dubious background had been included in the interview committee but those with vigilance FIRs also formed part of the said selection committee. Out of four members in the said selection panel, two had vigilance cases against them and one was facing enquiry in several complaints against him, divulged Singh. Moreover, some members of selection committee had been replaced during the currency of interviews thereby making a mockery of the entire process besides defeating the very concept of objectivity in selections, said Singh. He stated that the said interview process having created genuine doubts and apprehensions in the minds of aspiring candidates, the very credibility of the entire system was at stake. Pointing towards the verdict of SVC of 2016 which strongly recommended abolition of interviews for non-gazetted posts, Harsh Dev Singh said that it was established that the helmsman who appointed their favourites as members of the recruitment agencies, had used the said members for getting favours for their blue eyed candidates in the viva voce which had rendered the entire selection process meaningless. Besides he said, the intervention of top bureaucrats, MLAs and Ministers in the selection process has become a routine feature of all selections, creating great embitterment and unrest amongst the educated unemployed youth.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
