AJKPA held meeting seeks pending demand 1/21/2019 10:08:01 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 21: All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association held meeting today over the failure of fulfillment of demands by the government. The emergency meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai State President. During the meeting status of pending files, regarding fulfillment of demand was discussed in one voice. Mushtaq Ahmad Ganaia said that the government in 2017 constituted a three member committee to examine the demands of Patwar association. In the reports few demands were recommended by the committee but till date none of the demands have been fulfilled. He added, "In the past we have met higher officials every now and then. We had also met the chief minister of the state and also Patwar association was forced to go on the indefinite strike but had to call of the strike after fall of coalition government. After that the then Chief Secretary B.B Vayas called us and assured that all the demands will be fulfilled within a month's time but nothing concrete has happened till date". Mushtaq said that the Government in the past cleared all the demands of SSA teachers, enhanced allowance of police, removed pay anomaly of clerks, created numerous posts in other departments but when it came to the Patwars', the government paid a deaf ear and committees that demands are genuine and will be redressed. He further said that the staff strength of GQ's and Patwaries are about 5000, but only 1600 Patwaries are facing the grade pay anomaly issue that involves a meager financial implications Rs 2.5 crore. Further, Patwaries are the only official workers who work round the clock to perform the task of other departments.
