Forest team's report nails local Tehsildar
Dachhan illicit Timber seizure

Jammu, Jan 21: The forest officials' team that visited the compartment No. 30h of Dachhan range falling in Dachhan Block of Kishtwar District in its report submitted to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Marwah has nailed local Tehsildar for his involvement in Green felling.
As per the details available with ET, taking strong note of damage and sale of illicit timber through alleged nexus of forest officials and forest smugglers in remote areas of Kishtwar District, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Marwah placed one employee of the department under suspension following the complaint of illicit damage to plants in Compartment No. 30h of Dachhan range.
The team constituted thereof in his report after visiting the spot found the involvement of Saroop Chand son of Suraj Ram Resident of Sounder Dachhan in green felling-Saroop Chand happens to be the Tehsildar Dachhan.
In his report, forest beat guard stated that after visiting the area they found three green Kail trees viz one number 80-90 CM Diameter & two number of 60-70 CM Diameter beside 9 number of green wooden pieces which was accordingly seized and added that the same green felling has been executed by the above mentioned person who happens to be Tehsildar Dachhan.
Later the beat guard in presence of the witnesses seized the green wooden planks from the position of the concern Tehsildar in presence of the other witnesses and submitted the report to higher authorities for further necessary action.
It is pertinent to mention that DFO Marwah Viyaj Kumar, send the team of forest officials to visit the spot wherein they found forest damage in the form of Kail Green Trees of 60-70 CM and 80-90 CM diameter with timber volume of 348.77 CFT of different dimensions.
On the basis of the report submitted by the visiting team, DFO Marwah placed Som Nath, I/C beat Guard Sounder under immediate suspension beside also noticed the casual attitude and careless working of I/C Range Officer Dachhan Azad Hussain, I/C Beat Officer Noor Mohammad, Senior Forest Guard.
DFO Marwah also relieved Noor Mohammad from the duty of I/C Beat Officer and attached him in the office of Chief Conservator of Doda. He also ordered withholding of the pay of both Beat Officer and I/C Range Officer Dachhan. Besides, I/C range Officer Dachhan Azad Hussain has been asked to explain his position as to why further action should not be initiated against him.
DFO Marwah also constituted a committee headed by Assistant Director Forest Protection Force Kishtwar vide No. 19-24/DC/MFD Dated 18-01-2019 who has been asked to submit the detail report separately.
