Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 30: An SHO posted in a police station in district Jammu managed to extract money from rival parties in connection with the disappearance of a young woman.
Sources told Early Times that the SHO first took cash from the party who was allegedly behind the disappearance of the woman and then extorted money from the complainant party, who reported the matter of their missing daughter.
Sources further said that the youth who was involved in the abduction of the girl came in contact with the SHO and informed him that he would be taking away the girl as he wanted to marry her. He pleaded with police officer not to take any action against him, sources added. "After an amount of Rs 50,000 was handed over to the SHO through one of his close associates, the SHO told the youth to take away the girl on Friday. The youth followed the instruction," said sources.
"The family of the girl made hectic efforts on their own to search her on Saturday and Sunday but they failed following which they reported the matter to police but it did not take any action," added sources.
Sources said that in the meantime the family of the girl sent an amount of Rs 20,000 to the SHO, after which a case of abduction was registered against the youth.
"Meanwhile, a contact was established with the youth, who had taken the girl outside state, and was told to remain away for few more days as the SHO was busy with the Republic Day celebrations," said sources.
They said that the youth was further told that after the Republic Day celebrations get over, he will be presented before the court of law secretively adding that the statement of the girl will be recorded then and there. The girl's statement, which is likely to be in favour of the youth, will provide an escape route to the SHO from both the opposing parties, who paid money to safeguard their respective interests.
