Court awards 10 years RI in rape with 70 years old lady

JAMMU, Feb 2: Third Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Haq Nawaz Zargar awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000 to Raj Singh for committing rape with 70 years old lady.
On 10-01-2015, the complainant filed a written report in the police station against the accused. In the said report it had been mentioned that the accused had raped the old lady (name withheld and hereinafter called as victim) while she was going to the field for attending the call of nature. That the accused forcibly pressed her neck and had intercourse with her, the victim cried for help but all in vain. It was fog and mist at that time. On the receipt of this report FIR no. 7/2015 under section 376 RPC came to be lodged.
Judge Zargar after hearing both the sides observed that reformation of a criminal shall be the primary goal of administration of criminal justice. In view of the aforesaid and also keeping in view the age of convict, ends of justice would be meted out, in case convict namely Raj Singh is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for ten (10) years and to pay fine of Rs. 10,000/- for the commission of offence under section 376 RPC. The court also awarded two lakhs as compensation for lady.
