Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 16: Under the nose of district administration, especially the Irrigation department, a land grabber has made another attempt to encroach upon over 4-5 Kanals of state land in Sidhra area of city.
Sources informed Early Times that earlier also the land grabber had made attempts to encroach upon this land adjoining a rivulet.
"The land is just adjoining Police headquarters building. Earlier also the land grabber had engaged men and machinery in the dead of the night to grab the land, that falls next to a seasonal rivulet", sources said, adding that even a temporary cowshed was established by the land grabber but after reports by the locals the attempt was foiled by the administration.
Sources further said that few days back, once against the land grabber engaged men and machinery and started dumping debris to level the area.
"Over one dozen dumpers were engaged in the dead of night along with earth movers", a local of the area said, adding that it appeared that the land grabber was in close coordination with the officials of Irrigation department as the land grabber was attempting to grab the land in a well planned manner.
"At present the minimum cost of land is nearly 2.50 to 3 Crores", an official said, adding that it was a prime land and the land grabber has already grabbed many other stretches of state land, in collusion with the officials.
Sources further said that many times some locals have registered complained with the concerned department and police administration about the land grabbing attempts but the administration foiled the attempts cosmetically and didn't initiate any action against the land grabber, giving him opportunity to make fresh attempts.
