2/23/2019 11:56:53 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 23: Members of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) today held a meeting to discuss the toll tax issue under the President ship of Lalit Mahajan in presence of Suresh Mahajan, Sr. Vice President, Ajay Langer General Secretary, Vivek Singhal Secretary and Viraaj Malhotra Treasurer and other members.
Members present in the meeting showed serious concern in respect of repeated attempts of some vested interest people who are bent upon to destroy the Industrial Sector of J&K by raising for their voice for personal gains for the removal of Toll Tax at Lakhanpur, which may be resulting huge Financial loss to the State Exchequers as well as to the Industrial Sector of J&K who is providing direct and indirect Employment to Lakhs of local peoples of the State in spite of all the odds facing militancy and also facing stiff competition from the manufacturers, traders from outside the State.
During the meeting it was strongly resolved in the meeting that government should not remove Toll Tax Checkpost at Lakhanpur and the Toll Exemptions should be continued in GST Regime to the existing as well as New Industrial Units to compensate the additional transportation cost on the Raw materials and finished goods and with the dilution of package of incentives under GST Regime uncertainty is prevailing in the mind of Industrial Units for their future as they are facing stiff competition from the outside suppliers.
Further in the meeting it was suggested that State Excise Department should develop a software for the issuance of Toll Tax receipt having the details of GST Number of the importing firm with a provision to generate extra copy of the toll tax receipt for onwards submission to the State Tax Department for verification Purpose to plug the entry of unaccounted goods in the State.
BBIA requested Governor of State Satya Pal Malik , Kewal Krishan Sharma and K. Skandan, Advisors to Governor to kindly intervene into the matter to insure that Govt. should not take any decision in hurry without taking the Stake Holders in confidence on the toll tax issue with a humble request that the toll tax should be continued at Lakhanpur checkpost for the survival of MSME Industrial Sector of J&K.
