Early Times Report
srinagar, Feb 27: It has come to fore that the separatists have been exploiting Kashmiris by demanding hefty amounts for admissions reserved by the government of Pakistan for deserving students of Jammu and Kashmir in their Medical and Engineering colleges across the country.
Every year, the separatists have been selling dozens of MBBS and Bachelor of Engineering seats reserved for 'deserving' students of Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistani Medical and Engineering Colleges.
On Tuesday when the National Investigating Agency raided the houses of separatists, the sleuths found that records of Kashmiri students studying in Pakistan medical colleges that Hurriyat has recommended.
A source said that separatists recommend these seats on their letter heads after getting the money.
Even senior separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday admitted that letter head recommendations for study in Pakistan colleges were seized by the NIA.
"Around 15 to 20 people from NIA accompanied by two local policemen entered my house and office and thoroughly searched it and also the homes of my relatives who live around me. After these thorough coercive searches, certain items were confiscated by them which included my laptop and phones, hard drives from my office computers, press releases on Hurriyat and Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid letterheads, records of Kashmiri students studying in Pakistan medical colleges that Hurriyat recommends," Mirwaiz admitted on Wednesday.
"Later in the NIA press release in evening, they have used word incriminating evidence which is a matter of concern there was nothing so-called 'incriminating' that was taken," he claimed.
He however said that said that a high tech internet communication was also recovered. "This in actuality is a simple Internet lease line by a private company which is commonly used in media offices and at homes for good and uninterrupted internet use."
The separatists had have given two day strike on Wednesday and Thursday against the NIA raids on their residences. This is being done to pressurize the mainstream parties to raise the voice.
Source said that admissions in Pakistan are being reserved for the Jammu and Kashmir students for past over a decade. Majority of these admissions are being done on the recommendations of separatists. They most of the times send their relatives to Pakistan for studies.
There were reports that separatist leaders had been selling the MBBS seats at Rs 15 lakh per admission and BE seats for around Rs 11 lakh for last several years.
