Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 28: The deep rooted corruption in the Revenue Department in Reasi Distinct is duping poor residents for routine jobs. In a brazen incident, Lambardar Riyala of Tehsil Pouni of District Reasi took Rs 2000 from a poor family to get them a certified copy of their land records.
As per sources, Roshni Devi daughter of later Soba Ram of village Riyala, along with her husband Vikrant Sharma had been running pillar to post in Revenue Department to get a certified copy of the land record of her father for the last one month. They alleged that they visited Patwari Pouni Sanjeev Kumar repeatedly to get copy of land record but the Patwari made lame excuses.
"After feeling dejected, we met with the lambardar Riayla requesting him to help who demanded Rs 3000 for the work but after persuasion, he settled for Rs 2000, but even after that, Patwari Pouni Sanjeev Kumar didn't issue the certified copy of land records and harassed them.
When the matter came into public that lambardar has taken Rs 2000 from the gullible family. He expressed his anger with them and threatened them that their work will not be done and returned them Rs 700 by saying that pending amount will be paid later. It is pertinent to mention here that Early Times has audio recording of the Lambardar Riyala in which he clearly admitted that he took Rs 2000 from the family and said that Patwari is very unhappy with these people for making this matter in public and has denied to issue the copy of land record. When a senior Revenue Official was contacted by the Early Times, he assured that if the facts are true and the proofs are made available with the department, a strict action will be taken against the Patwari.
