| Maha Shivratri Shobha Yatra taken out with religious fervour, gaiety | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 2 : An impressive Shoba Yatra on the eve of Maha Shivratri was taken out today. in Jammu city amid unprecedented security arrangements, with religious fervour and gaiety. The religious procession, which commenced from the Ranbireshwar temple, near Parade Ground, passed through various bazars of the city, including Hari Market, Raghunath Bazar, Purani Mandi and Panjtirthi.
Route of the procession was decorated with buntings and flowers at various points while people showered petals as the religious procession passing through bazars.
People from all walks of life as well as saints, participated in the huge procession which consisted of tableau depicting mythical scenes and events related to the marriage of Lord Shiva with Parvati.
The entire Jammu city wore a festive look as people enroute had decorated their markets with banners, buntings and welcome gates. There was a beeline of people at every street to welcome the Yatra and to have a glimpse of Shobha Yatra.
To avoid any untoward incident during the religious procession, unprecedented security arrangements had been made in the entire city, particularly en-route the procession. A large number of cops as well as CRPF men had been deployed en-route while the entire procession was virtually cordoned by the Khakimen. Alert securitymen with guns in their hands, were also seen on roof-tops on the route of the procession.
Amid chanting of Shiv Bhajans and shouting of slogans in praise of Lord Shiva, the Mahashivratri procession commenced from Ranbire shwar temple at around 4 pm. Religious slogans and Shiv Bhajans rented air as the procession proceeded from the temple.
The procession contained tableau, youngmen-attired in traditional dresses and sitting on horsebacks, as well as cavalcade of motor cars. Groups of 'Jangams' (life time devotees of Lord Shiva) also decorated the religious procession. Artists bearing masks of Lord Ganesha and Nandi-gan were attraction of the procession. Some band groups playing tunes of Shiv Bhajans, added colour to the Mahashivratri procession.
Meanwhile, on eve of the Mahashivratri, all temples in the city have been decorated with lights and buntings. Grand functions will be held at Ranvireshwar Temple, Peer Kho Temple and Panjbakhter Temple and other temples of Jammu city tomorrow. |
