DHS fails to make Pvt clinics display rate list

Jammu, Mar 2: Despite repeated complaints against the private clinics for fleecing people, the Directorate of Health Services Jammu has failed to ask these clinics to display rate list at prominent places.
Sources within Health Department told Early Times that licensing norms of the department state that the tables of fees, costs and rates for various services should be displayed prominently in 'Bold Letters' but in spite of clear directions, the most of the private clinics and nursing homes which are being run by some doctors and businessmen are floating norms with impunity but officials in deep slumber.
Sources said that most of the clinics and nursing home owners having nexus with the department so that they have shown thumb to rules and regulations of the concerned department.
"Due to the poor attitude of the concerned department, the patients are being fleeced by the private clinics and nursing homes, " sources stated, adding that maximum numbers of health clinics and didn't have all required permissions viz NOC from State Pollution Control Board and Jammu Municipal Corporation but who cares?.
However, an official told that that the rate list, which was approved by the department was challenged in the court by the owners of private medical centres that's why they are not displaying rate list and charging as per their wish.
Director, DHS Jammu was not available for comments.
