Emergence of Atheists in abode of saints worries people
New political party set to stir equilibrium
3/16/2019 11:59:27 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 16: Jammu and Kashmir's political landscape has seen many ups and many downs. Many crests and troughs. However, according to netizens, this is for the first time in the political history of the state that an atheist has jumped into the mainstream politics seeking votes from otherwise God fearing people.
Social media on Saturday remained abuzz about the emergence of a new political party in Kashmir with former bureaucrat as its founder. The party will, as per the people privy to its formation, will focus on eradication of corruption, address the mounting development deficit and channelise talent of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir towards proper direction.
However, what is raising several eyebrows is the joining of one of the leaders into its fold who believes in Marxist ideology and is an atheist- the one who doesn't believe in the existence of God, leave alone believing in any religion.
Such a development is taking the social media by storm with people questioning how could a person who believes fervently in godlessness could take the already crises ridden state towards prosperity.
"The people of Jammu and Kashmir could be anything but anti-religion. How could someone who rejects the existence of God claim to be the leader of the state whose one division is called City of Temples and other the abode of saints. Such infiltration of godlessness will never be tolerated and shouldn't be tolerated by the saner voices of the society," says one netizen.
There were scores of others who opined that the emergence of atheists in the state of Jammu and Kashmir could become a mounting concern and with such people entering in politics, the society could loose all its values.
The census data for Jammu and Kashmir showed 20,000 people not wanting to associate with any religion. In all of India's other 27 states combined, this number was only around 33,000. "With people especially youth drifting away from religious values, the emergence of atheists will further aggravate the problem. It will lead society towards anarchy, more hatred and more chaos. What as a state should collectively be done is to reject such people who under the garb of taking the state out of the present mess are there to make their own ideologies flourish," says a scribe based in Jammu.
Meanwhile, this new entrant in question is all set to contest the coming polls from Srinagar. All preparations for the same have been, as per reports, completing and it is now only an announcement that is to be made.
What is Marxism?
Pertinent to mention that 19th century German philosopher Karl Marx, the founder and primary theorist of Marxism, had an antithetical and complex attitude to religion, viewing it primarily as "the soul of soulless conditions", the "opium of the people" that had been useful to the ruling classes since it gave the working classes false hope for millennia. At the same time, Marx saw religion as a form of protest by the working classes against their poor economic conditions and their alienation.
