2 drug peddlers held, over 34 kg charas recovered

Jammu, Mar 25: In continuation of its drive against drug trafficking, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Unit Jammu seized over 34 kgs of Charas and arrested two persons at Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota.
As per press statement issued by the NCB, a car bearing registration number DL-7CG-1566 (Toyota Corolla) was intercepted by the team of NCB Jammu at Ban Toll Plaza Nagrota Jammu.
The team recovered 34.500 kg charas from the car which was kept inside the rear seat of the vehicle in a cavity specifically made with iron sheet for the purpose containing 35 packets.
Two persons namely Bashir Ahmad Khan (37)of Gotlibagh, Ganderbal and Showkat Ahmad Dar (33) of Khanyar, Srinagar have been arrested by NCB Team.
Spokesman said that during preliminary investigation, the arrested person revealed that the drug was originated from Anantnag (Kashmir) and destined to Ajmer further Mumbai.
"With the arrest of these drug smugglers, a major hauls of drugs and vehicle, nexus of the drug traffickers exposed and foiled their attempts of drug smuggling in the present scenario", said spokesman adding that this is the 2nd seizure of charas having big quantity and total 109 kg charas seized by NCB Jammu within a week.
Further investigation is under process to explore linkages between the drug smuggling from Kashmir valley and other states of India.
