'Millennium Radio Mirchi Kids Marathon 2019'

jammu, Mar 25: Hijacking a grand event sponsored by State Sports Council (SSC), the University of Jammu, event partner for the marathon portrayed itself as the organiser.
According to a copy of media invitation available with Early Times issued by Directorate of Sports & Physical Education University of Jammu, the Marathon was organised by the Directorate in collaboration with SSC.
"Directorate of Sports & Physical Education in collaboration with State Sports Council is organizing Marathon at University of Jammu. Vijay Kumar, Advisor to Hon'ble Governor and K.A Ganai, Advisor to Hon'ble Governor, J&K shall be the Chief Guests, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, Dilbag Singh IPS, DGP, J&K shall be the Guest of Honour", copy of invitation sent by JU reads.
However, according to documents available ET, the funds were provided by the SSC. "The University of Jammu provided the venue," the documents added.
"Sanction is hereby accorded to the conduct of Little Millennium Radio Mirchi Kids Marathon at Jammu on 24th of March, 2019 at estimated cost o Rs 3.77 lacs through a monitoring committee comprising of Chief Sports Officer, Sports Council, Sports Officer (J) Sports Council, Manager M.A. stadium Jammu and Gurcharan Singh Athletic Coach in collaboration with management of Little Millennium International Pre School", Sport Council Order no.174of 2019 read, and added that release of and advance of RS 3.77 lacs for purchase 2000 T-shirts, medal and certificates and 100 T-shirts for VVIP.
"There was no mention of University of Jammu in the order issued by SSC, but the University portrayed itself as organiser in the invitation", they added.
However, when contacted Haji Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council (CSO) said that the event was funded by SSC. "The Little Millennium Radio Mirchi Kids Marathon was main agency, JKSSC was only funding agency", he said.
