Mountaineering team left to participate in All India Speed, Bouldering competition

Jammu, Apr 19: Seven sport climbers including 6 girls of Mountaineering Association of J&K left today for Delhi to join five other members of the team who are already at Delhi, for participation in the IMF All India Speed and Bouldering competition scheduled to be held at Indian Mountaineering Foundation on 20th and 21st April, 2019. Shawetica Khajuria and Shashi Kant Sharma, accompanied the team as manager and coach respectively.
Management of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu led by its chairman Rahul Sharma gave a warm send off to the state climbers. On the occasion Arti Sharma, Principal of Apple Kids, Bantalab, Jammu presented an imported UIAA certified climbing rope valuing Rs.11000/- to Mountaineering Association of J&K which was received by Shawetica Khajuria, Joint Secretary of the Association.
It may be mentioned here that Mountaineering Association had selected 12 climbers including 8 girls for participation in the national competition. However, five climbers including Shivani Charak, Mrityunjay Sharma, Ajay Deep Singh, Arun Deep Singh and Asma Gul who are potential medal winners at the national competition were deputed to Delhi on 10th April for 9 days coaching and practice at the international standard climbing walls in the IMF complex, just prior to the competition at the same venue. The remaining seven climbers Manisha Kumari, Raghni Devi, Roshni Devi, Vishali Sharma and Reema Devi in the Women's category and Keshwam Dev Singh in the Sub Junior Boys category who are fresh but fast upcoming talented climbers also had strenuous work outs for nine days at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing wall in the Sprawling Buds ICSE School campus, Bantalab, Jammu under the supervision of Shilpa Charak, a senior climber, before their departure for Delhi today.
The state team for the national competition has been sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
