| Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman to fly fighter jet again, IAF says, 'Hope to see him in G-suit soon' | | | | In a good news for the nation, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman of the Indian Air Force will be returning to fly fighter jets after a final medical clearance will be given to him by the Bengaluru based Institute of Aerospace Medicine.
As per the reports published in media, Varthaman will be giving a series of tests in next few days and upon clearing it, he will be finally discharged. The 35 year old officer was a key factor in India’s aerial warfare against Pakistan post Pulwama attack.
An official of the IAF told the Hindustan Times, “In such ejection cases, specialists usually assess a pilot’s health for up to 12 weeks before they clear him for flying again. So we will know about Abhinandan by May-end. But going by the current health indicators and the officer’s determination to return to fighter flying, we hope to see him in a g-suit soon.”
After the Pulwama attack in Jammu and Kashmir which claimed the lives of more than 40 CRPF soldiers, India conducted “pre-emptive non-military” strike across LoC in the Balakot district at the terror camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed with more than 1000 kgs of bomb.
Pakistan Air Force had then reacted by attacking Indian armaments with its F-16, and the IAF responded with the MiG- 21 and in the air warfare, Abhinandan, who was flying MiG 21 bison crash landed in PoK after he shot one F-16, which landed in Pakistan.
Abhinandan was handed over to India under 60 hours after a tremendous pressure on Pakistan, built up by the Indian and foreign diplomats and it eventually, became an indirect victory for India. |
