PM Modi admits that BJP-PDP coalition in J&K was 'Mahamilawat'
No to healing touch, yes to hitting touch

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 21: PM Narendra Modi on Saturday made a very bold statement on J&K and on the already collapsed PDP-BJP coalition and their coalition government in J&K. He said that it was the compulsion of the mandate that left the BJP with no other option but to shake hands with the PDP whose ideology the BJP never ever appreciated and that the coalition government that the BJP and the PDP formed was a "Mahamilawati Sarkar".
PDP-BJP coalition government was formed on March 1, 2015 with late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as the Chief Minister. Mufti took oath of office in the presence of the PM, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, former Dy PM and Home Minister LK Advani, former Human Resource Development Minister MM Joshi, BJP national president Amit Shah and many other top BJP leaders. Soon after taking the oath of office, Mufti Sayeed exploded a political bomb by saying that he wanted to give credit for the peaceful conduct of assembly elections in J&K to militant outfits based across the border and Pakistan. His statement had caused embarrassment to the PM and the BJP leadership, but they swallowed everything for the sake of power.
Mufti Sayeed could not lead the state for a long time. He could lead the state only for a few months. After his death, his daughter Mehbooba Mufti took more than two months to lead the coalition government. In between the state remained under the Governor's Rule. The Mehbooba Mufti Government was formed in 2016 and it collapsed in a dramatic manner on June 19, 2018, the day the BJP withdrew its support to her. Ever since then, the state has been under the Central rule.
But more than that, ever since then, the BJP leadership and Mehbooba Mufti have been taking on each other and also exposing each other. Mehbooba Mufti has been accusing PM Modi of not treading the path late Vajpayee chartered for the BJP and the BJP leaders are accusing Mehbooba Mufti of being a separatist. They are also terming her terrorist-friendly, security risk, pro-Pakistan and divisive. She has been urging the PM to follow the Vajpayee's "Kashmiriyat, Jamhuriayat and Insaniyat" doctrine, while PM Narendra has been saying that "he rejects Mehbooba Mufti's healing touch policy and favours hitting touch policy". On Saturday, PM Modi said in unambiguous terms that his government will not spare terrorists, separatists and supporters of terrorists.
