DIC organises Mushaira, cultural bonanza

KATHUA, May 16: District Information Centre Kathua today organized a multilingual Mushaira and Cultural Bonanza here at Government Higher Secondary School, Sallan.
Principal of the school Vijay Sharma was the chief guest, while the school staff and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
The poets recited their works in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Dogri languages on various social evils like drug addiction, female foeticide, gender disparity, illiteracy, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and dowry system.
Prominent among the poets who recited their writings were Vijay Sharma, Ramesh Gahloch, R S Katal, Sita Ram Sapolia, Balak Ram, T R Sumbria and Sham Khajuria.
A cultural programme on patriotic theme besides Dogri, Punjabi and Hindi folk songs were also presented by Joginder Kumar, Bunty Kumar, Dilsher and Thomas Shub, was applauded and enjoyed by the audience.
The staff and students also presented patriotic solo performances.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal, Vijay Sharma thanked the Information Department for organizing such type of programmes. He appealed for organizing more such programmes on regular basis.
He also expressed gratitude to the poets, writers and singers for their presentations.
