Early Times Report

Kishtwar, May 17: Renowned Social Activist and State President of Trade Union Sadat Doolwal expressed grief over the death of Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) officer, Sushil Kumar Attri who according to media was found dead at his rented flat in Sainik Colony on the city outskirts on Tuesday evening. Police formed a six-member Special Investigation Team to probe the alleged suicide. Sensing foul play, Attri's family on Wednesday and staged twin protests first at Channi Himmat and then at a cremation ground in Jammu's Shastri Nagar where Attri's last rites were performed the same evening demanding a CBI probe,. Attri, a deputy director with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project, J&K social welfare department, was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at his rented accommodation in Ansal Flats in Sainik Colony area. Following his death, Attri's body was sent for an autopsy, the report of which is still awaited. He was cremated after the procedure. Prima facie investigation suggests the death was a suicide, but police are awaiting the postmortem report for further probe.
After the cremation, Attri's family members staged a protest and blocked the road in Shastri Nagar area, alleging conspiracy in his death and demanded a CBI probe. They lifted the demonstration after senior police officers assured them of a free and fair investigation.
