Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 30: Even as the Congress failed to bag even a single seat from Jammu and Kashmir in the Parliament elections and the party miserably failed to perform at the national level, fissures have erupted in the state chapter of the national party.
While senior Congress leader Shoaib Lone has resigned from the party as its district president, sources said fissures may lead to some leaders quitting party in the coming days. The Congress alliance with the NC in Kargil is also at the verge of coming to an end.
Sources said the Congress leaders are being approached by ome
Sources said the party leaders in Jammu and Kashmir believe that their party President Rahul Gandhi took the state so lightly that he didn't even bother to make one public rally for the candidates from the region and that he didn't do "justice" in giving mandate to the leaders who could have performed well.
Sources said the leaders in Kashmir as also in Jammu are all fire over the selection of candidates and absence of Rahul Gandhi during the electioneering. The party leaders said even though senior leaders of the BJP visited Kashmir despite knowing that the party would perform that well in the Muslim majority region, the Congress leadership took the things for granted.
"Congress leadership took its cadres in Jammu and Kashmir for granted and as if the state was not supposed to show its performance in the elections," said a Congress leader on the condition of anonymity.
He said the leaders who were likely to quit in Kashmir would either join some regional party so that they get mandate in the next Assembly elections.
"Over the years the Congress has been using its leadership in Kashmir as pawns but now enough is enough," said a leader on the Congress leader on the condition of anonymity.
