Alliance or defeat for Congress in Assembly polls
5/30/2019 11:23:41 PM
The state unit of the Congress is upset over the rubbish performance in the recent Lok Sabha polls because it did not win any of the six seats in the state. As per the senior leaders including the state president GA Mir. According Congress leaders alliance with National Conference had forced the Congress to draw black on the other hand the PDP is dismal that lost the LS polls because of its ties with the BJP. And Mehbooba has advised party workers not to blame it's loss because of its ties with BJP. But state Congress leaders are wrong because in the past it had formed the coalition Government with the NC and it's performance was well.
If Devendra Singh Rana is to be believed he has predicted better performance than 1996 when the elections were held after six years NC leader said that in the ensuing election the NC would get more seats than in 1996 If Rana is right then there is no alternative for the state Congress to form postpoll alliance it has happened in 1996 and later except for 2002 onwards when the PDP joined hands with Congress. And this is fact whenever the state is being run by NC-Congress coalition it works. This means that the state unit of the Congress has no other alternative but to support the NC. And the NC not BJP which has harmed the PDP.
Once the Congress and NC join hands it would not ensure success for the coalition but may defeat the PDP and may not allow the BJP to repeat 2014 performance when it won 25 seats attracting late Mufti Sayeed to form a coalition Government with the BJP. Yes Ghulam Nabi Azad had wanted the PDP to seek help from the grand alliance of the Congress and the NC. It was rejected by Mehbooba because whatever initiatives father had taken she wanted to follow that. Then and the Congress together could the PDP to form the Government. But Mehbooba thought that alliance with BJP may end regional discrimination.
