| World No Tobacco Day observed | | |

Jammu, May 31: Mount Litera Zee School, Anand Nagar, Bohri, Jammu "World No Tobacco Day" in the school premises.
According to press release the programme was presided over by Chairman Er. Parneesh Mahajan, Liaison Officer Harvinder Singh Sihotra, Principal Manikarnika Bhasin, Coordinator Radhika Mahajan, staff and students.
The function started with special Assembly in which the teachers gave demonstrations regarding this event in which students and staff delivered speeches related to "World No Tobacco Day" based on the theme "Say No to Tobacco". This special day was celebrated to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use in any form. The students performed a skit to demonstrate the health hazards of intake of tobacco like lung cancer and any other bronchitis.
Manikarnika Bhasin, Principal of the school briefed the students about the importance of this special day and she also explained that WHO (World health organisation and other global partners celebrated World No Tobacco Day on 31st may every year since 1987.
This event was intended to highlight the health risks associated with the tobacco and encourage government to adopt effective policies to reduce smoking and the use of other tobacco products. In the end, the students made a promise to make the environment tobacco free. |
