Ladakh remains unrepresented in Union Council of Ministers
5/31/2019 11:45:32 PM
No doubt Dr Jitendra Singh, who has won from Lok Sabha constituency of Bhaderwah- Kathua belt deserved a seat in the Union Council of Ministers but Tsering Twang who won as BJP candidate from Ladakh constituency has not been taken in the union cabinet. What about the Kashmir region? Since the National Conference had won all the three seats from the valley Modi had no other alternative to delete Kashmir because NC was not to be lured by a seat or two in the union cabinet that could have deep repercussion on the ensuing Assembly election. This way the NC did not want to follow the PDP for forging an alliance with the BJP which has ruined the party. Hence NC did not want to commit the grave mistake of siding with BJP
What about Ladakh? Ladakh is a backward area and a seat in the union council of ministers was not a bounty for Ladakh MP but it was right because he had defeated non-existent BJP candidates. And during the last 50 years Ladakh has been neglected prior to the rise of Kushak Bakula who was respected by late Sheikh Abdullah and some central leaders. However, since the demise the Kushak Ladakh has received a shabby treatment.
And one expected Modi to correct the malfunctioning of the centre by taking Tsering in his cabinet. It has not been done and the anger among people in Ladakh is marked by rage. And still time for Modi to remove some drawbacks given to Ladakh area. After all Tsering beat his rivals and his success was attributed to the magic of Modi but if you happen to talk to any person in Leh it is anger against Modi having dropped Tsering .He had the right to be adjusted as a member of the Union Council of Ministers. Yes, as far as Dr Jitendra Singh is concerned he is intelligent and knows political schemes which had endeared him to Modi but Tsering too wanted a chance to deliver his ideas and his dropping is a signal of injustice to Ladakh.
