Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, June 1: Former Minister and Congress District President Manjit Singh on Saturday appealed administration in Jammu division to resolve the issue of unscheduled power cuts in rural as well as urban areas of Samba district.
"It is unfortunate that people are made to suffer because of unscheduled power cuts in Vijaypur and Samba especially farmers," said former Minister Manjit Singh said.
Congress's district president, Manjit Singh was addressing first meeting with the party workers in Vijaypur after the declaration of Parliamentary results.
Singh has been conducting frequent tours of the border villages and interacting with the people to keep in touch with the poor people so that their sufferings could be reduced.
"When the mercury touching over 42 degree Celsius, the people have been left without electricity and hence, water supply also remains affected for days," he alleged, while citing example of the border areas.
In border areas, he claimed that "Before the paddy season, the Government should ensure the electricity is streamlined and tale end villagers provided with adequate supply of waters for the cultivation of crops as well."
"Canal water is not possible to pump into the fields without electricity," he said, while claiming that thirteen-to-fourteen hours of power cuts have become unbearable to the people.
He said that the administration should seriously fix the problem to end the suffering of the people.
