In our area, drainage remains a mirage: Chatha Farm residents tell Munish

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 1: The residents of Chatha Farm have been grappling with absence of proper drainage system and at some places the dilapidated roads have become nuisance for local residents.
The Chatha Farm which falls under Gandhi Nagar constituency has also similar problems which other areas have been facing. This was told by the local residents to Editor, Early Times, Munish Gupta, who has been campaigning for upcoming assembly elections as an independent candidate in the constituency.
"In our area drainage system is the biggest problems, which has not been solved till date. Dirty water which comes out from our houses has to be emptied into the soakage pit dug within the premises of our houses as there is no other way for its outlet," said Darshan Singh and Jatinder Singh, residents of Chartha Farm near SKUAST Jammu.
They said that they would vote only to that candidate who would solve this grave problem of the areas. "It has been 10-12 years since the road was macadamised last time. Now the road is in total dilapidated condition and need immediate black topping which has not been done till date despite repeated representations to the concerned," they said.
Rohit, a young boy of Ward No 1 of Chatha Farm panchayat said that in their area the tiles have been laid only in selective portion where some influential people reside. In their street tiles are in broken condition and need immediate replacement, but no attention was given to them, which shows gross discrimination. There was a portion of passage of approximately half kilometre linked to a house which was never macadamised or tiled and they are still awaiting for the work since long.
