6/3/2019 10:22:47 PM
Early Times Report
Budgam, June 3: As the anti-encroachment drive for retrieving Kah Charai land continues in Budgam town and its outskirts , local residents living along Srinagar Chadoora road have appealed authorities especially Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of Srinagar and Budgam to intervene to retrieve around 200 kanals of Kah Charai land from illegal occupation .
Details available with Early Times reveal that more than 200 kanals of Kah Charai land located on left and right side of Srinagar- Chadoora road has been forcibly occupied by several people right from Natipora onwards.
Sources said that most of the Kah Charai land has been grabbed in Chanapora Lal Nagar , Bagh e Mehtab , Mochwa , Kralpora and Gopalpora areas. Several shopping complexes, furniture showrooms , band sawd and business units have been set up on this occupied state land and authorities at the helm of affairs are mute spectators.
Locals said that due to encroachment of Kah Charai land , the road from Srinagar to Chadoora has been chocked especially at Mochwa , Kralpora and Gopalpora. In Gopalpora area of Chadoora tehsil only recently more than 1 1/2 kanals kah charai land valuing Rs 1 crore or more on Srinagar Chadoora road was grabbed by a business man and his sons who have established a huge furniture showroom on the Govt land. Similarly an Advocate practicing in Chadoora court has also grabbed more than 2 kanals of Kahcharai at Gopalpora Alamdar colony Road and established shops and office complex. The said advocate has encroached upon an irrigation canal as well and all the filth and dirt is being dumped in the canal. In Mochwa and Chanapora Lal Nagar several car workshops , timber depots , residential houses and shops have been constructed on the Kah Charai land.
" Tehsildar Budgam who is a female officer has launched a crusade against land mafia in Budgam tehsil . She has done a commendable job and everyone is appreciating it. Her predecessors never had courage to take such steps. We want that Tehsildars of Srinagar South Chanapora, Chadoora be also asked to launch an offensive to retrieve Kah Charai land on Srinagar Chadoora road at several locations. Even the irrigation canals , Doodh Ganga river has been encroached by influential people. We appeal DC Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal and DC Budgam Dr Sehrish to take up this matter seriously. This is the right time to launch an offensive as no politician can intervene in it " said Farooq Ahmad a local resident of Bagh e Mehtab
As reported already District Administration Budgam has launched an offensive in for retrieving state land in tehsil Budgam. The team headed by Tehsildar Budgam Nusrat Aziz has retrieved more than 110 kanals of state land in Narkara , Sheikhpora and Humhama areas. On Saturday the officer went to posh Friends colony Humhama and retrieved 10 kanals of prime land having market value of 30 crores. The land was encroached by some top Govt officials against whom FIR has also been filed in police post Humhama.
