Early Times Report
reasi, May 3: Notwithstanding the Deputy Commissioner Reasi's order to take action against the State land encroachers, a senior official of Public Works Department Reasi came to rescue of his relative.
Sources told Early Times that there is a stretch of 4.6 kms from Bhamla to Stoti in district Reasi and a portion of this road has been encroached by a local resident leading to its complete blockage, which causes inconvenience to the locals. Pertinently Early Times had already highlighted the issue in one of its edition regarding encroachment of road.
They further said that the local approached the Deputy Commissioner Reasi and appealed for strict action against the law breakers. Consequently the DC directed the XEn, AEE PWD Reasi to visit the spot and submit the factual report to her. "During their visit, the concerned XEn, AEE didn't visit the spot which was encroached and took the photograph of other portion of the road and sent to the DC Reasi. When the local requested the officials to take action against the real culprit, the PWD officials dined to do so and threatened to lodge FIR against them by saying that if they raised this issue more," Chaman Lal, the local resident of Stoti said further adding that it has come to know that the encroacher is the relative of XEn PWD, thereby he is shielding him. He alleged that XEn, AEE asked the locals to approach the Revenue Department for their grievance, who claimed that the land of road didn't come in their purview. Locals appealed to the DC Reasi to pay the visit personally to the spot to take first hand cognizance of the issue and requested to take action against the erring PWD officials.
