Kishtwar, June 4: The Sarpanches of block Kishtwar today held a strong protest against the BDO Kishtwar and RDD Department over their failure in releasing the wages to job card holders ahead of holly festival of Eid ul Fitar.
As per the details available with Early Times, the Sarpanches under the leadership of its President Payrae Lal Sharma raised slogans against BDO Kishtwar for his failure to release wages of job card holders ahead of Eid. The Angry Sarpanches alledge irregularities and discrepancy in MGNREGA works while at the same time some Sarpanches alledge non execution of works on ground.
Speaking to Early Times, the Sarpanches slam BDO Kishtwar for ignoring their concern added that the officials of the RDD Department handed over a page asking them to sign over it added that when the BDO Kishtwar Gurdev Singh was asked to explain regarding the same, he turn blind eye towards their concern. They said that people are still waiting for clearance of pending wages for the year 2016-17, 2017-18 while Department was aimed at clearing the payments for the year 2018-19. They said that in previous cases, the officials of the department had withdrawn payments against material supplied while job card holders were kept in lurch. They said that the officials of the department were trying to befool them by asking them to sign on unverified document so that they could legalised the material supplied and withdraw the same against fictitious bills on the name of blue eyed persons.
When contacted Director General RDD Jammu Rehana Batool express surprised over the non release of wages to job card holders. She asked to ask the Sarpanches to meet the ACD Kishtwar.
In a question on additional charge syndrome where a BDO from Bhunzwah was assigned the job of Block Marwah which are separated by two days journey, she said that the department has short of manpower and hence they are making every effort to make the best possible alternative arrangements to run the affairs of the department.
In a question on delay in clearance of DPCs files of Jammu Division while same has been cleared for Kashmir valley, she said that the department has already cleared some cases of DPCs while at the same time she agreed that the recent meeting on DPCs, their was non consensus over the issue and assured that the department will hold next DPC meeting shortly.
Reacting over the request from Director General RDD Jammu, the Sarpanches said that they already visited the office of ACD Kishtwar several times added that he too fail to address the issue or was found missing from the office most of the time as and when they visited his office. They said that BDO Kishtwar without having anything in knowledge of the Sarpanches release Rs. 20 lakh payments for Lachdayaram Panchayat while around Rs 12 lakhs were released for B T II Panchayat.
