Early Times Report

Jammu, June 4: The residents of Masjid Mohalla of Ward No. 2 Narwal Pain Satwari have been reeling under serious water crisis alleging that water supply by Public Health Engineering Department never reach to their location.
Residents alleged that scorching heat coupled with no water supply has virtually made their life miserable. "There is only 10-15 households where PHE water supply never reach due to small diameter pipe line laid down in their area while rest of the area, the water supply remains regular due to which they had been facing huge difficulties to get potable drinking water," they said. While talking to Early Times, a local resident Tony said that area belong to Muslim Community and during Ramzan month, scarcity of water add to woes but PHE never paid heed towards their problem which is yet to be addressed.
He said that in some areas the water supply is being given two times a day but at their location, the water hardly reaches and at times the supply remains for 10-15 minutes. "We have been given wrong connections from Police Station Satwari PHE water station whereas the other houses have double connections one from CDO office road PHE satiation and other from Police Station Satwari. We have to fetch water from other areas to meet daily needs and this problem is being faced since one month," he said.
The concerned Junior Engineer PHE, Neeraj Sudan when contacted for version, informed the Early Times that there is no such complaint in his knowledge and claimed that water supply in these areas is being given two times a day. "The PHE department is very serious regarding any shortage of water supply in peak summer season and we have been making all efforts to ensure regular supply of water so that people may not suffer," Sudan said. He further said that he would personally visit location to look into matter and assured that if such problem exists in that area will be addressed.
