Sensing protests, police on alert ahead of Eid
6/4/2019 11:37:43 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, June 4: Apprehending anti-national protests in Kashmir on the day of Eid, the government has put police and other security forces on alert.
Sources said the government has inputs that some anti-national elements would try to incite violence in some areas after the Eid prayers "to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir."
Sources said that "no concerned official in police will be allowed to take off for the festival till the day passes off peacefully."
Source said the Jammu and Kashmir Police held a meeting to discuss the matter and to evolve a strategy to counter any such violence.
Sources said the police officials including the Inspector General of Police SP Pani have told the hierarchy down the line to ensure maximum restrain if any such situation arises.
"Strict instructions have been passed to exercise maximum restraint in case of any stone pelting but we also expect people to behave peacefully so that everyone celebrates the festival," said a police official posted in Srinagar.
Sources said though some of the areas have been declared as "sensitive" and "highly sensitive", the police are hopeful to get the situation under control within hours.
It is pertinent to that for the past few years, it has been a recurring problem that some anti-national elements incite protests on the day of Eids in Kashmir.
