Selection process for Secy JKAACL getting sabotaged, alleges literary bodies
6/4/2019 11:43:58 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 4: Alleging that one of the candidates in contention for the post of Secretary J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages (JKAACL) is trying to sabotage the entire selection process, several literary bodies of Jammu have said that the person with vested interest is trying to manipulate the procedure. In a joint statement, President ACMAA Prof V N Kohli, President Nami Dogri Sanstha Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, President Duggar Manch SMohan Singh said they have learnt from some reliable sources that the candidate who is not confident about getting the post 'on merit' is trying to derail the whole process of selection of the Secretary as the person is allegedly trying to indulge in unfair means to set aside the report of the 5 member committee.
They said that it was in the last week of January 2019 that a panel of 5 experts (including two Secretaries to the Government) was formed and was entrusted to make a panel of candidates for the said post. The committee worked continuously for four months to arrive at recommendations.
Later on, one of the candidates (with poor merit) challenged the whole process of selection in court of law. After few hearings and listening to the version of Government, the Court was satisfied and found 'no fault' in the selection process. Hence the case was dismissed by the Court in the last week of May and the search committee was directed to go ahead with the process of selection.
Now, one of the candidates because of poor merit is apprehensive that his/ her name might not be in the final list of 5 shortlisted candidates prepared by the selection committee, is trying to derail the whole process of selection. The person is trying his/her best to influence the President (Governor of the state) from different quarters to ignore the panel of 5 candidates, prepared by the selection through different quarters.
It is in the interest of the state that the selection underway is completed and finalized at the earliest so that the untoward attempts to thwart the legitimate selection process are put to rest, the statement said.
