J&K congress party suffers jolt , State youth members quit
6/30/2019 10:11:37 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 30: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress on Sunday suffered a jolt and some of the senior members of the State Youth Congress on Sunday quit from the body blaming the senior leadership for allegedly ignoring cause of Jammu region.
"On the one hand when Congress is busy in strengthening its youth cadre in Kashmir valley and on the other hand due to injustice towards the Jammu region and ignoring the views of grass root level Congress workers," said State Vice President's Of Youth Congress Advocate Pankaj Basotra, Dr Sahil Sharma, State General Secretary and Ex National Coordinator Youth Congress Chetan Wanchoo and DYC President Vishu Sharma after resigning from the primary membership of Congress Party.
Addressing media here, the leaders blamed the party for showing scant regard towards the aspirations of Jammuites and rather gave more attention towards Valley.
While addressing the they said that as and when party meetings were held,we brought up the issue that we should pay due attention towards the Jammu region which is the major vote bank for the Congress party and keep the appeasement policy towards Kashmir on back burner, but every time no heed was paid to our suggestions. Consequently the party suffered a massive setback.
During the Membership drive there were 30000 youths enrolled themselves as youth congress workers from Jammu region where as only 1000 youths were enrolled from Kashmir valley, which depicts that the Jammu Congress workers put in their hard work to increase membership of the party in comparison to valley leaders. In spite Of this fact the meeting of Youth Congress by National President was convened in Kashmir. But the invitees from Jammu boycotted this meeting subsequently it was cancelled. Surprisingly now the meeting is reconvened again in Kashmir inspite Of the fact that the resentment shown by the Youth Congress leaders from Jammu region. It implies that the party is not taking the youths of Jammu seriously and is engaged in appeasement towards Kashmir.
Taking a dig at J&K Congress President G A Mir, Youth congress leaders said he is responsible for ruining the Congress party in the state as he was playing a role of dictator who never listened to grassroot workers but was influenced by some wealthy people of the party which have no base among the masses. They said while undertaking the membership drive by the party, some of The influenced people's who have no membership in the party were put on important positions like District President's,Vice President's by the Party President Mir,which mistrust among the actual party workers and ultimately caused a great damage to the party. They said that it is very unfortunate that to become office bearers in youth wing you have to spend lakhs of rupees in organisational elections of youth congress but in parent congress no elections held and only those who have money power and have no mass base will be given the priority.
They also alleged that the so called leaders from Jammu at national level also ruined the party only to save their Rajya Sabha seat and always sell the mandate of people of Jammu to national conference and they don't have time to listen the grievances of loyal Congress workers and only gave time to their cronies...
They also alleged that many times we wrote letters, emails and also sought time from leadership sitting at Delhi but they never bothered.
So feeling suffocated in the party we resign from the post and primary membership of the party.
They further said that to carry out the future strategy they will consult their supporters and then will decide the future course of action.
