Drug menace has engulfed entire Qasim Nagar, police failed
to curb on it: Yash Pal Sambyal
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 30: President Mohalla Qasim Nagar Bahu Fort Yal Pal Sambyal expressed serious concern over the increasing drug menace in his area and alleged that police administration has failed to curb this menace.
While talking to Early Times, Yal Pal Sambyal said that he has been living here for the last 30 years. "The Qasim Nagar has seen very ups and down in last three decades. The area was developed by the Congress leaders of the State but now area is engulfed in drug menace. There are bad elements in the nearby area of Rajiv Nagar from where this drug business is being run. All those who are involved in this business are from other states and spreading this menace among the youth," he said. He further said that they contacted the senior police officers in this connection, but nothing has been done to weed out this nuisance. "Recently a deputation of 30-40 residents of the area called on IG Jammu and informed him of the problem, who assured to handle the issue but police could not curb these drug peddlers," he said.
Meanwhile, criticising the BJP for ignoring this area, Yash Pal Sambyal said "BJP had been the worst party, State has seen, it failed on all development fronts. The local MLA Kavinder Gupta never paid heed to the problems of Qasim Nagar. Even not a single penny has been spent by him till date. Not only Qasim Nagar even the neighbouring areas has been looked after"
He said that the previous MLA Raman Bhall carried out some developmental work in the area but ever since he was defeated, no development work has been done the BJP leader Kavinder Gupta. "BJP candidates could win assembly elections only because of Modi, otherwise they have no merit to get elected on their own," he said further adding that whosoever will resolve issues including road, water, sanitation, power, the entire area will cast their votes in favour of that candidates.
