DC Kathua pays surprise visit in wee hours at Lakhanpur Toll Post

Kathua, July 11: In order to review the functioning of Lakhanpur Toll Post, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Raghav Langer paid a surprise visit to State`s gateway at late night hours.
He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ghanshyam Singh along with officials of Motor Vehicle Department.
Deputy Commissioner Excise, Toll Post Lakhanpur, Ashish Gupta apprised Dr. Langer regarding daily toll collection, targets set for the Financial year 2019-20 and revenue realized over previous years.
DC himself visited the toll collection points and interacted with the staff of Excise and Taxation department. He also examined the working of weigh bridges at Lakhanpur.
Discussions were also held with concerned officials regarding seizure of illegal items and how to prevent evasion at Toll Plaza. Reconciliation of import/export statement for the day on the software was discussed and overloaded vehicles referred to MVD were also correlated.
Dr. Langer directed all concerned departments to ensure full coordination in synchronizing their efforts for professional management of the Toll Plaza. Excise and Taxation officers were told to maintain utmost vigil on 9 minor toll posts established at various locations of the district and perform their duties with utmost dedication to achieve desired results.
He also stressed upon the staff to intensify physical checking of vehicles in order to book the evaders, prevent contraband goods and encourage genuine tax payers.
He further instructed for hassle free clearance of vehicles to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic and ensure that the commuter/ drivers are not put to any inconvenience.
Later in the day, DC also paid a surprise visit to the District Library and interacted with all those who were present in the Library and inquired about the facilities being provided to them.
Thereafter several deputations also met the DC in the conference hall of DC Office Complex and flagged their issues in front of him.
DC along with ADC and ACR gave patient hearing to all the deputations and assured them that their grievances will be redressed on time.
