CS asks for PGs' data till July 22, employment deptt seeks registration in 3 days
Unemployed youth smell rat

Early Times Report
Jammu, July 11: Though the Chief Secretary had directed the Employment department to furnish the data of postgraduates till July 22, the department gave only three and half days to the youth for registering themselves, which is been seen as a conspiracy by the unemployed.
According to the official documents, it was with such a hurry that the whole turn of events took place, raising suspicions among the unemployed youth.
On July 8, the Chief Secretary held a meeting and directed the department of Labour and Employment to prepare a list of PGs in the state who have not been employed in the government.
On the same day, the office of Labour and employment issued instructions to Director Employment to collect the data to collect the data and also asked the Director office to direct the Assistant Directors of Employment in the districts to collect and compile the information of post graduates in a particular format till July 22. The copy of the communication was also forwarded to the Deputy Commissioners to withhold the efforts to furnish the data.
Surprisingly, the Directorate of Employment issued a notice asking unemployed youth to register themselves by July 12 till 2 pm and a copy of the notice was forwarded to Director Information to disseminate the information throughout the state.
"The notice was published in the newspapers on July 9 and many of the youth came to know about it only in the afternoon or the evening. The state has huge hilly terrain and a large population resides in that areas of the state, where most of the information' sources are not accessible", a youth said, adding that the haste shown by department in the issuance of notification pointing towards some hidden conspiracy behind the move.
"By giving so much less time, the department is deliberately trying to present a wrong figures of unemployed youth or there could be some steps in pipeline to give some relief to the unemployed youth and government wants minimum of the figures, so such less time has been given", another youth complained, adding that administration must clarify about the haste shown by department.
Director Employment YP Suman said that the department has decided to give the unemployed youth time till July 22 to register themselves.
"Though the announcement provides some relief, an official extension-notification must be issued by the department to inform the youth", another youth said.
