Early Times Report

Jammu, July 13: Jammu Province Peoples Forum (JPPF) activists today staged a protest demonstration against observance of July 13 as martyrs day.
According to press release, President Pavittar Singh Bhardwaj said that Maharaja had expressed his desire to go with India but to topple his government, britishers planted Abdul Qadir, a working cook with the Resident Commissioner who managed to religiously exploit and instigate a group of Muslims gathered at Jamia Masjid Srinagar to agitate against Maharaja Govt.
Speaking further President stated that its is the irony of thought that with the annexation of Kashmir in Union of India and installation of Sheikh Mohd Abdulla as Prime Minister of J&K state whose party at the time was Muslim League later on converted to National Conference but his actions and motto remained the same.
The National Conference Govt later declared the day as Martyrs Day against the wishes of the people. JPPF considers it as mutiny and a Militant Day as the action taken was proper at that time to maintain law and order and to protect the loss of lives and property.
"We therefore condemn it and demand that this is the Black day in the history of the state which should not be observed as Martyrs Day. It is therefore that the protesting members are waring black badges on the occasion", he said.
