Jammu
The closing ceremony of the ongoing Cricket Tournament in Akhnoor Higher Secondary School took place on Sunday, the tournament was organized by Akhnoor Cricketer Club.
The final match was played between Baba Jitto Cricket Club and Cobra Cricket Club team in which Baba Jitto club won the tournament.
Sham Lal Sharma, who was also chief guest on the occasion said that Cricket is a game of uncertainty. Through this game, the ability to struggle increases and opportunities get associated with each other's feelings. And with such an event, the players of the rural areas get a golden opportunity to refine their hidden talent.
Speaking on the occasion, the Sham said that youth of the State despite having lot of interest in sports and allied activities and valour and zest for doing better, hardly get much opportunity to showcase their talent and skill, because people around them are least bothered to organise quality tournaments to provide them platform to hone their skill.
He said probably that is one of the reasons as to why our State is still lagging behind in the sports sphere at the National scene, adding that absence of State cricketers in Indian Premier League (IPL) portraits picture of the opportunities and the avenues being provided to the State cricketers at the local level.
Sharma further said that the sporting events like this will go a long way in promoting sports culture in the State and helping in producing international stuff.
Urging upon the people to not to mix sports with politics, Sharma said that both sports and politics teaches a person to take success and failure with same spirit.
Meanwhile, Mahant Rohit Shastri, who was guest of honour in the tournament said that the game is essential for all children and youth. Because of physical activities the health and brain will become healthy. The youth should also pay attention to sports along with other tasks.
On the conclusion of this auspicious work, Shastri greeted all the members of the club.
Meanwhile, the tournament's organizers Pradeep Sharma, Rajesh Sharma,Naresh Sharma,Harsh Sharma and others were present.
