Why additional forces have been deployed in Kashmir?
7/29/2019 10:42:50 PM
Why additional 10,000 men of the central paramilitary forces have been deployed in Kashmir? Does the centre fears that the valley may be swept by incidents of violence if Article 35-A and Article 370 were revoked? These 10,000 men of the paramilitary forces have been deployed in the valley to curb rising incidents of militancy related violence. There has been marked increase in the incidents of violence during the last two years and the additional forces have not been deployed for curbing peoples violence over revocation of Article 35-A or Article 370. This has been cleared by the (BJP) and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan dismissed rumours about abrogation of Article 35-A, which grants special privileges to residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
Welcoming new members into the party fold, Chauhan said rushing additional troops to Kashmir was a routine exercise and it has no link with abrogation of Article 35-A. "Article 35-A is a subjudice matter. And BJP has not discussed any proposal about its abrogation lately," said Chauhan, who was on a two-day visit to Valley. He said rather than working on abrogation of Article 35-A, BJP is more focussed on upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Rumours are ripe in Kashmir that Government of India may abrogate Article 35-A, which grants special privileges to people of Jammu and Kashmir and bars outsiders from purchasing land and property in the State. People are linking rushing of more troops to Valley to move to abrogate Article 35A.
Chauhan, a three time chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, said the movement of additional troops was a routine exercise and some people are deliberately linking it with the abrogation of Article 35-A. The Kashmir centric politicias especially Mehbooba Mufti, PDP Chief, have berated the centre for deploying additional 10,000 men fearing that the BJP led NDA Government was bent on abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35-A. But there is such move because once the Assembly elections are to be held in November additional forces were deployed to ensure incident free polls. And the BJP cannot dare to revoke Article 370 and Article 35-A since it wants to regain power which it lost when it quit its alliance with the PDP. Hence the BJP cannot dare to fiddle with Article 35-A and Article 370 though there is nothing left in Article 370 which grants special status to the state within the Indian union because almost all the central laws have been extended to the state including the Election Commission of India and the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and the replacement of Sadr-i-Riyasat by the Governor. Hence the Kashmir centric politicians should have no fears about deployment of 10,000 men of the central paramilitary forces.
